THUMB KIDS THEATRE PARTICIPATION POLICY

Behavior Standards and Theater Etiquette

Welcome to the THUMB KIDS Theatre family. As with any successful family
we have standards of behavior that ensure that every participant will enjoy
a safe and productive experience. Every participant will be expected to
know the rules and behave in a manner that will continue to make the
Thumb Kids Theater enjoyable for all. Participating in a TKT theater
production is a commitment that requires dedication on everyone’s part.
Excellence in theater productions does not happen by accident, but
requires a team effort in which everyone is doing their part to the best of
their ability. Below is a list of expectations that if practiced by you, the
performer, will ensure the best experience possible for you.

As part of your registration, we require that a parent/guardian read
through what follows along with their children. Please initial the box
next to each item.

ITEMS SPECIFIC TO TKT PRESENCE IN HARBOR BEACH THEATER

When we rehearse and produce a show, we are doing this as guests in the
Harbor Beach Community Theater. They have been gracious and generous
to welcome us. Therefore,

I will respect the property of the venue that is hosting us.

I will pick up after myself, throw away my trash

I will not touch venue equipment/property unless given permission by a director.

I will remain in the rehearsal/production area.

I realize that the Theater building as a whole is off limits to me, such as the gym, the balcony, the library and the work out areas.

I will not wander away. Our rehearsal/production area includes the stage, backstage, the theater seating area, the lavatories, and the community room on the third floor.

I
will not leave the rehearsal/ production area unless told to do so by a
director.

I will put in practice time. Songs, dances, blocking, movement-I will
practice during the week and I will honor the deadline for being “off book”.

I won’t be crabby about the part I get.

I will give my all regardless of the size of my part. Disappointments happen-after all there can only be a few main leads.

I will learn to make the absolute most out of the part I’ve been assigned.

I will listen to those directing me and honor those directing by giving them my full attention.

I will take care of my things. Props, costumes, set pieces- I realize they aren’t mine, and I should treat them with care and respect. I won’t touch them if they aren’t mine, and I’ll hang up or put away my costume and props when I’m finished with them.
At the end of my rehearsal or production.

I will not leave the rehearsal/production area until I have been claimed by the adult
responsible for me.

I will be on time.

I realize that theater staff and leaders have worked hard
to prepare. I will arrive 10 minutes before the official starting time.

I will honor God in my rehearsal, performance, and classroom
behavior. I realize that I can honor God by trusting Him to make me an
encouragement to others.

I will support others and seek to draw out the best in them. Making fun,
bullying, or gossiping has absolutely no place in any Thumb Kids Theater
activity, and will be dealt with swiftly and summarily.

I will show respect to those who have responsibility for me. Whether
theater directors, staff or theater volunteers, I realize that all of these have
sacrificed much to help me. I will respect them, especially by listening to
them.

• I will be prepared. Whether its my lines in a production, or anything else
given me to do in preparation, I will use my time to see to it that I am well-
prepared for theater project to which I am committed.
